Given below is a step-wise guide to use Google Maps when there is no internet connection, and you are offline.
The first thing that you need to do is open Google Maps on your device.
Now tap on the Search bar and enter the name of the city whose map you wish to download.
After that, tap on the bar at the bottom of the screen that shows the city’s name that you just searched for, and then swipe up to see all the options.
Here, you will find the option to download. Click on it.
Now, Google will ask for confirmation and show you the area’s map and ask you if you’d like to download it. Please tap on the Download button to confirm it, and the map will start getting downloaded.
Once the download is complete; this map will be available offline.
To make sure, turn off your Wi-Fi or mobile data and open Google maps.
Now tap on your profile picture on the top right-hand side corner.
After that, select the Offline maps option.
Here, you will find the list of previously downloaded maps.
Tap on one of them, and it will open on Google Maps home screen. You will now be able to navigate, even though you are offline.
As mentioned earlier, the offline maps need to be updated after 45 days. If you want to avoid doing that manually, you can enable Automatic updates under Offline Maps settings.
