Luxury retail powerhouse Louis Vuitton has launched its next-generation, “truly wireless” earphones with a $1,090 price tag. Named the Louis Vuitton Horizon Earphones, the pair is an MW07 model developed by New York-based audio firm Master & Dynamic which specializes in high-fashion style. The earbuds can be bought in at $300 but the Louis Vuitton logo and design cost $790 more. The luxury earbuds can be purchased through Louis Vuitton’s official website.

The Pods

Available in five color finishes — jet black, pristine white, bright red, pink and neon yellow, the earphones can last 3.30 hours of listening time on a single full charge. The earphones feature an intuitive touch control element for easy adjustments while on-the-go. A new feature for the second-generation Louis Vuitton wireless earphones is its active noise-cancelling modes. It also allows Bluetooth connectivity of up to 30+ meters in distance

The Battery Case

The battery pack comes in a polished stainless steel case. The lid is of sapphire glass and has a white ring with pink gold polished color monogram flowers. The back is of white ceramic with monogram flowers engraved. The charging case can be charged in two ways, with a USB Type C cable or by induction. Charging time for earphones and charging case achieve 50% in 15 minutes and 100% battery in 40 minutes. The charging case offers two additional charges of 10 hours each, for a total autonomy of 30 hours.

Rise of Luxury Earbuds

This is the second of Louis Vuitton’s luxury audio products. The first was launched last year, and, like this one, was received not without shock. The first, revealed early last year, is slightly cheaper at $950. Luxury headphone products have been on a rise in recent years to provide consumers with a wider array of options. Caviar, a Russian luxury gadget company, recently introduced its Caviar Airpods Gold Edition covered in 18-karat gold priced at a whopping $69,860. The product is reportedly sold out on their website.

LV’s Foray Into Luxury Tech

Audio products were not LV’s first venture into the tech space. In 2017, the French fashion house brand launched a collection of smartwatches, the Tambour Horizon. The price for the Louis Vuitton smartwatches ranges from $2,450 to $2,900. The earphones actually pair with the watch. While most techies may frown at such luxury, considering that quality topples design, there remain to attract buyers who take them as collector items.
